August 2020 Used Book Sale at Newport – to be held outside

August 6, 7, and 8, 2020

The Friends of Newport Public Library will have a pop-up book sale on Aug. 6-8 in the rear of the library building. The area is outside, under the overhang, so it will be shady, and with good air circulation. No customers will be allowed in the building during the sale. This is not the usual book sale environment, so the Friends ask that you be patient as they try to give people the chance to stock up on reading material, even during the pandemic . The book sale will include paperbacks, jigsaw puzzles, and other items that are easy enough for volunteers to move out for each day and back into the library each night. Given enough volunteers, if people want specific hardback fiction, the volunteers can bring small numbers of books out of the community room so that they can be sold. Hours for the sale are Thurs., Aug. 6 from 10 AM to 5 PM, Fri., Aug. 7 from 5-8 PM, and Sat., Aug. 8 from 10 AM to 4 PM. A limited number of customers will be allowed into the sale area at any one time, and masks are required of everyone attending the sale. The Friends of Newport Public Library thank all the book sale customers for continuing to support the library in this devastating year for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Don’t forget, Sat., Aug. 8 will be “bag day,” no limit on the number of bags you can buy for $2 each (Friends of NPL pay only $1 per bag).
