We are pleased to welcome author and experienced sewer, Teresa Peschel, to the Newport Public Library for a special event. Teresa wrote the book “Sew Cloth Grocery Bags” which elucidates how one can make sustainable cloth shopping bags for personal use. Plastic bags are so last decade so please join us on Saturday, March 21st at 10am at the Newport Public Library for this instructive and eco-conscious event.
On Saturday, April 25th the Newport Public Library will host a book signing open house for local authors and poets to celebrate National Library Week. Please stop by during the library’s normal business hours (from 10am-6pm on Saturdays) to show your support of our area’s finest authors. Books will be available to purchase the day of the event so please plan accordingly.

Announcing…. the 2020 One Book One Community book selection. The book is Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth, by Sarah Smarsh. Newport Public Library currently has one copy of this book, but by January 2020 all four Perry County library locations will have multiple copies available for loan. We invite everyone to be a part of the conversations around this book and its timely topics. There will be programs and author visits at central PA libraries. Please watch for further information as it becomes available.
