Newport Public Library
Bike4Books Bicycle Tour!
September 24, 2022
Over the past 23 years Newport Public Library’s annual bicycle tour has been a popular opportunity for recreation, food, and much needed support for a great community resource. We are pleased to announce that we will have an in-person-on-the-road bike tour again on Sept. 24, 2022.
Here are some updates on our Sept. 24, 2022 Bike4Books bicycle tour:
We will not have plastic water bottles this year. We provide water and Gatorade at rest stops, water and lemonade/iced tea at lunch. Please bring a bottle to refill as you wish. Most of you, if not all, carry your refillable bottles with you anyway when you ride.
We want to stress the importance of signing back in after your ride. We take our riders’ safety very seriously. We want to make sure everyone is back and has a chance to eat before we leave the park. If all of the riders sign back in, we know when it is safe to pack up and go home.
We have to order t-shirts on Sept. 5. Many of you will pre-register online by that cutoff date, Sept. 5, 2022. These pre-registered people will get a free t-shirt and lunch. We will once again have t-shirts from previous rides for sale for $5 per shirt.
We have to put in the lunch order on Sept. 12. If you register before Sept. 12, you will definitely get lunch. We will order some extra lunches, but if too many people register on the day of the ride there may not be lunches available for everyone. There will be lots of food at the rest stops, as usual, and whoopie pies at the rest stops again this year, but we want you to know about this in advance so you can plan accordingly.
We are excited to see you all again, and we thank you for supporting Newport Public Library!
