Book Club forming at Newport

Join us for the new “Book Club Group” that will meet from 10 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15th at Newport Public Library. The group will read and discuss the book, Every Bone a Prayer, by Ashley Blooms at the February meeting.  The Book Club will then meet on the third Wednesday of each month.  Members will choose the books the group will read for the remainder of the year. Everyone is welcome, whether you have read the book or not. Please join us for some great discussion and conversations.  For more information, please contact Newport Library at 717-567-6860.

Preschool Storytime at Newport

Newport Public Library is excited to announce the return of weekly pre-K Storytime for children ages 3-5. In addition to letters, numbers, shapes and colors, this year’s program will cover feelings and provide children with strategies to deal with their complex emotions. The programs will be held at the library on Tuesday mornings from 10 to 11 starting March 7. Please call (717) 567-6860 to register.

Change to User Fee Policy at Newport

Starting January 1, 2022 NO resident of Perry County will have to pay a user fee to use Newport Public Library. The NPL board of trustees made the decision to eliminate these barriers to library use for the benefit of the whole county, recognizing life-long learning to be essential for everyone. Cardholders who have paid in advance for a year of service will be upgraded to Gold Card status for the remainder of their paid time. Gold Card status gives the cardholder the ability to check out DVDs free of charge. It is important to note that NPL relies heavily on the financial support of the community to continue to operate. We take this opportunity to thank our community members, townships, and businesses for their continued support for our programs and library collection. See our newsletter for details.
